P - Disc Golf is a wonderful sport
P - Other Colleges have courses for Disc Golf
P - MCLA should jump on board
C - MCLA should have a Disc Golf course on campus
I thought his line about jumping on board is like a bandwagon approach, and is supported by his claim that other colleges have courses. His reference to it being so wonderful I think is just him expressing his thoughts but there could be a fallacy there.
I think there is an appeal to the people (bandwagon) fallacy committed here. The author says that other colleges have it and really like it and, therefore, we would really like it too.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, this sport sounds very interesting. I had never heard of it until I read this article, but it sounds like a lot of fun!! I would definitely want to participate if we ever did create a course on or around campus. The fact that it is cheap seems to me like it would draw a large crowd. Who knows, maybe someday soon we will have our own disc golf course!
FYI, there is a disc golf course in the woods behind BT. If you walk up half way up Bradley St. there is a path into the woods on your left. The trees have markers painted on them; you'll have to look around. By the way, I don't condone the fact that the goal markers are painted on tree trunks and I'm not sure if we're legally permitted to play there.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for additional premises for your argument, consider that there is a demand among students for a course, and that it might be in MCLA's best interest to satisfy the demand with a legally sanctioned course.
